I was born and raised in Somerset and attended Manchester Medical School from 1972 till 1977. I married in 1977 and have 3 grown up children.
I pursued an uncomplicated course through university enjoying student life to the full, continuing to play rugby union at a reasonable level without injury.
Since qualifying I have obtained diplomas in child health, obstetrics and gynaecology and latterly in 2000 in therapeutics. I have an interest in the mode of action of prescribed drugs and the evidence for its use.
My interests are many as is the nature of general practice. I enjoy most aspects of the work but like many of my colleagues, find lack of time a constraint. I am actively engaged with the PCT as Stockport’s prescribing lead. I also provide medical advice to Stockport Trust as their Medical Adviser.
