We have been listening to patients’ ideas, frustrations and requests and we understand that getting through to the surgery can be difficult at times and is one of the major complaints that we receive. Therefore, in order to make life easier for our patients, we have been exploring the option of a text messaging service.
There are 5 steps to this service:
- Cancellation of appointments
- Repeat prescription requests
- Enquiries to GPs
- Appointment reminders
- Campaign information such as Flu clinic details
Please be aware that due to the nature of the proposed service, careful planning and regulations need to be followed but in order to not delay it further we intend to roll out the first step immediately. The first stage of this service is to introduce the ability to cancel appointments by text message. This will commence on:
Wednesday 1st December 2010
on a 2 month trial. If successful we will continue this and plan to provide the next steps in the near future.
Cancelling your appointment via text message
It is very important for you to provide us with your relevant details when sending us a text notification.
We will NOT accept cancellation requests without the following information:
- Full name
- Date of birth
- 1st line of your home address
- Date & time of the booked appointment that you wish to cancel*
TEXT TO: 07918912020
We hope you find this service useful and appreciate ANY feedback you may have about this or proposed future services. Please contact Anthony by telephone on 0161 483 6222 or email anthony.lawson@gp-p88012.nhs.uk.
We kindly request in the meantime that whilst other services are being considered please do not request anything other than the cancellation of your appointment using the texting service as it is not set up for anything else at this time.
* If you do not remember the exact details of your appointment please give us your consent to cancel the soonest booked appointment on our system.
